Legacy Solar Wins SunPower "Intelegant" Award

We are proud to announce that we have received the “Intelegant Award” award from SunPower for an exceptionally well-designed and installed solar project commissioned in 2021. The project in Mahomet, Illinois consists of a 9 kilowatt (kW) award-winning solar system and is expected to offset 132 metric tons of carbon dioxide and save the homeowners approx. $24,399 over 25 years. “SunPower dealers are known for their craftsmanship, quality and know-how,” said Tony Garzolini, head of sales at SunPower. “I'm inspired by the work of those that go especially above and beyond to show just how beautiful solar can be.”

Award-winning SunPower system

“The main reason we decided to go solar was due to environmental concerns and wanting to do something substantial toward combating climate change,” said Anne Stoner, homeowner of the award-winning SunPower system. “Being a climate scientist, I know firsthand how much damage we are doing to our planet by continuing to burn fossil fuels. My husband and I had decided to purchase an electric car but both felt that for it to really make an impact, the first step should be getting solar panels so we can charge the car with electricity generated at our own house from renewable sources. Weighing options and expenses, we realized that going solar would not actually increase our monthly expenses compared to our previous average monthly electricity bill. There were many more pros than cons, so that’s why we went for it. And we’re so happy we did!”

The SunPower app makes it fun to follow along with how much energy we are producing compared to how much we are using, as well as seeing the comparative amount of CO2 we are NOT adding to the atmosphere.”
