Luke and Angie Luginbuhl
Owners, Project Design + Sales

Luke started working construction when he was 16, and later, as a high school physics teacher, he worked summers doing construction projects. For years, he has involved himself in crisis response and preparation as a hobby. At his home, he utilizes geothermal heating and cooling system, a photovoltaic parallel grid system, and a backup LP Generac whole-house generator. He's proud to be the 4th generation serving in the electrical energy field.

Angie heads up the office side of the Legacy business. As a child of an entrepreneurial family, and 4th (or more) generation self-employed, she's thrilled for a chance to work along side her family, serving other families. Her favorite part of being in business is getting the chance to learn from her mom, who has kept books for her dad for more than 3 decades. For her, Legacy is more than a name, its a heritage.

Steve and Deb Sutter
Owners, Mentorship and Sales

Steve began his career as owner and operator of Sutter Heating and Electric in 1976. Since then, he founded a full-service irrigation and drainage business that has grown to two dealerships serving farmers in Northeast MO, Southeast IA, and Western IL. Deb has been his right hand through it all, bringing order and wisdom to all their endeavors. Steve and Deb founded Legacy Solar with Angie and Luke Luginbuhl, their daughter and son-in-law.

Benefits of Solar Power

Reduces or Eliminates Your Electric Bill.

Most electrical utility companies in Illinois are offering a one to one credit for every kwH created and used. This is called net metering. You've heard the phrase, "make hay while the sun shines," right? We can work with you to design a system that produces enough in the warmer months to provide for more than what you will use then. That extra energy is used by your utility provider, who gives you credits to use when the sun isn't shining.

Government Tax Breaks and Incentives

Going solar has never been more affordable.  In Illinois on residential units, we take advantage of a 30% Federal tax break and a Solar Renewable Energy Credit incentive often reducing the system to half price. Businesses have the extra incentive of your solar system being depreciable. For a residential installation, the typical payback time if less than 5 years and for commercial it is less than 3 years.

Boosts U.S. Energy Independence

The more solar power we generate, the less we need foreign oil and the closer we get to energy independence as a nation.

Puts Money in Your Pocket

A residential system in Illinois typically pays itself off in 5 years or less. A system owned by a business is even quicker, usually 3 years or less. After your system is paid off, money you had to previously spend on energy is money in your pocket! Did we mention that the panels have a life expectancy of 25 years+? Adding solar to your home/business is an asset.

Reduces Carbon Footprint

Solar is a practical solution to eliminating the waste products created by fossil fuel based energy sources. Its renewable and affordable.
